Brig. General (Ret.) Rex R. Kiziah is leading the Institute for Future Conflict’s efforts to build a Quantum Computing Minor for the Dean of Faculty at the U.S.Air Force Academy. He is also a Professor Emeritus, Physics and Meteorology at the Academy. Prior to this position, Kiziah was the Permanent Professor and Head, Department of Physics and Meteorology, leading a 53-member department which educated, trained, and inspired more than 2100 future Air and Space Force officers annually.

Kiziah entered the Air Force in 1981 as a distinguished graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy. He initially served as an Air Force science and technology officer at the Air Force Weapons Laboratory then an Associate Professor of Physics at the Academy. His staff and acquisition assignments included joint duty officer and deputy program manager within the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Air Force Research Laboratory Commander’s representative and staff member of the National Reconnaissance Office Advanced Systems and Technology Directorate, and Combat Support and Joint Counter air Division Chief at Headquarters USAF. Kiziah was the Materiel Group Director for Advanced Space Superiority of the Space Superiority Materiel Wing, Los Angeles AFB. He then commanded the Phillips Research Site and was the Materiel Wing Director for the Air Force Research Laboratory Space Vehicles Directorate, Kirtland AFB.
